Brenda Iijima is constantly focused on the conundrums and complications that arise when humans think of themselves other than animal. She just completed a text–a quasi encyclopedia that chronicles the animals that humans have used as their surrogates. It is called SOME SIMPLE THINGS SAID BY AND ABOUT ANIMALS. This poem is one of the entries. Another book can be found here. She lives in Brooklyn and runs Portable Press at Yo-Yo Labs.
